auto insurance bites

my bf and i were talking the other day about our insurance. he has a 2000 VW, i have a 1990 taurus in decent condition. since he went through the bank to get his car, he has to have full coverage insurance, which is fucking outrageously priced. when i met him, he was paying 300.00 a month for insurance. after we got together, we got on the same insurance, and i'm now listed as the primary driver of his vehicle. now he pays 108.00 for BOTH cars. the reason is simple: i'm a woman. for some reason, your sex determines your base rate for auto insurance. this has got to be the stupidest thing i've ever seen. what does your sex have to do with the way you drive? i thought that pre-judging another's actions based on sex was illegal in this country. isn't it? what do you think?

try being 16 in addition to male, my insurance is a nightmare.

I pay something like 50 bucks a month for insurance through survival

21 male clean record 1 ticket (125+ in a 25)
drive a 1992 Nissan 300zx

Wow JJ, insurance is cheaper in the USA, eh?
I pay $89 a month for my 1992 Cavalier, counting my 20% discount.

No ICBC premium points or a dangerous amount of demerits yet, though. Only that one ticket some of you may remember ($345 - 120 in a 50).

I live in Michigan which has about the best no-fault system. Everyone is required to have insurance, and I just have PLPD (personal liability, property damage) which is the minimum and covers me if I hurt someone or hit a building or something, but I don't have collision or theft, so if I crack up my car or it gets stolen I get nothing.
