I saw the Spankers last night in Portland at the Aladdin Theater. They have a "new" line-up (new to me), so I was prepared for them to be less magnificent than in the past (Charlie Rose, Sick, and the old bassist were gone). Also, it was the drummer's first ASS show and I've hyped them terribly over the years. There was no reason to have feared. One of the new guys, Charlie King, was just hysterical. Great new songs, hilarious banter, excellent addition to the group, and as always it was a fantastic, high energy show. A woman in the audience kept yelling, "White Derby" at Nevada. I think she's probably stalking the band right now. They have some crazy, rowdy fans who just add to the fun. Anyway, I made a fan of the drummer.
