I've had a G & G print in my loo for the past 10 years. I only got bored of it a few months back and removed it, and I shall now be replacing it with this one

I saw the documentary, and I liked G & G before, and now I love them even more. They seem like truly beautiful people and i loved how they came across. Artists in love with humanity, and in particular those singled out and lambasted and written off by the media [much like G & G themselves seem to have been], score a major win with me.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to see their Tate floor later in the year

Curious...the print you had in your loo, was it one of the great neon SHIT pictures? Or the shit-eating one? That'd be sweet.

The Tate show is overwhelming (BIG) and fascinating, if you’re into the phenomena of G+G and the whole erasing-subsuming-annihilation of identity stuff. Otherwise, you may see it as grandly irritating, sterile or vacuous.

I used to see the Gs often in the East End, and still do occasionally. A few years ago I interviewed them and they graciously played brief background roles in a short film I made; a semi-fiction-semi-documentary of another artist, set upon the blur between reality and fiction — so their appearance was a nice coup. They are a charming couple, open to and delighting in everything equally. Being with them felt monumental in its banality — something like reading Ulysses.

Germaine Greer likened their relationship and career to a long drawn out suicide pact.



EDIT: I was just told the Tate show closed on May 7.
