Awesome. I actually beat most of the bill.
First off, it was texting. My darling little princess has a boyfriend now. Nice enough little squirt and he's totally terrified of me, that's a good thing.
But... after two years of her being all cool and shit about the texting (I had not opted for the $30 per month unlimited text plan because she is all cool about not going apeshit and stuff) she goes teen on me and racks up (ready for this, Verizon was quite impressed) 9,280 texts in a little over 6 weeks. that's NINE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED EIGHTY.
YES!!! When my kid does something she does it RIGHT!!!
My darling little overachiever that she is.
She and boyfriend are a tad bit freaked out at the moment, expecting much violence and horror to befall them. He has offered to pay part of it which I decided was a good reason to let him live.
Anyway, they are stewing in their misery at the moment, not sure of their fate so one with the good news.
Verizon screwed up. they sent the bill ($700+)last month to my old address and not to Hooterville, the current abode. They even sent this month's bill to the old address but they sent the dunning notice to the NEW address.
I pointed out that had they not made that admitted error, I would have never allowed the bill to grow to $1654.00. I did not deny responsibilty for the messaging but argued that they did have my new address and had misdirected the bill one other time, which they admit to also.
My ace in the hole was that as of the end of this month, my 2 year contract with them was up.
I offered this deal, do something about the ridiculous bill and I would sign for 2 more years. Do nothing and I would pay it (as I was legally indebted to them for it) but would take my business to another carrier, like AT&T.
They offered this, They would agree if I would accept adding the $30 a month unlimited text to the account. They then retro'ed the account for two months. I now have a new 22 month contract and the text bill is forgiven except for $210 in time overages or some shit.
whew
got new phones too.
I am taking Kill Verizon off the To Do list.
