I was not impressed, at all, with the first episode of John from Cincinnati. Talk about weirdness for weirdness sake. I'll give it a chance, but sheesh.

4 tiers below Deadwood in entertainment and quality as of the first episode.
Milch needs to be shot for abandoning great entertainment in exchange for his midlife spiritual crisis catharsis.

Second episode was better than the first, but I still feel like Milch is holding his dialogue back to avoid Deadwood seeping in. Once it becomes clear just what this series is about (metaphysical being visits dysfunctional surfing family??), it might be okay.
