Well, Oxsan, growing up we kept horses. Any tale of woe involving a farm animal that started out with, "Guess what that stupid animal did..." automatically meant you were referring to one of the horses. So another word for horse is stupid.

By the way - your description of how you learned to read brought a wave of nostalgia to me - I learned by sitting in Dad's lap at the breakfast table on Sunday mornings and reading every single comic with him. As a consequence, I started school with a huge head start on my compatriots, and an immense disdain for the "Fun With Dick and Jane" primary level readers.
