Yes Van Hagar was a joke even by 90's standards...
Sammy played alot of Montrose when I saw him though, thats what made the show alright

The last time I got any enjoyment out of Hagar was when he was in Montrose.
David Lee Roth may be no one's dream front man, but the music they made with him was a damn sight better than what they did with Hagar.

That album rocked. It is one of my all-time top ten favorite concert albums (Double Live Gonzo and Frampton Comes Alive split first place).

I saw the Red Rocket in Seattle during the early 80's. When he was at his peak, Sammy was great. Like most artists from that time he turned to shit in the 90's (witness the Five Fingers of Doom - now I wish Fred Bear had eaten him whole years ago).

And, of course, 'House Full' by Fairport (not to be confused with their studio album 'Full House') is also great.
