Live Free or Die Hard

...fuckin' RULED.

Greatest movie ever.

Okay, not perfect. Yes, the PG13 was a cop-out; it was disappointing not seeing McClane drink, smoke, or drop the f-bomb 200 times. Yes, there were at least 3 to 4 protracted stunt sequences way more ridiculously implausible than anything that occurred in the first three films. Yes, the yipee-kay-yay line was a bit crap in this one. Yes, there was something wrong with the looping of the film that had dialogue mismatched with mouth movement in several shots in a few different scenes.

These things aside (and they will be mostly aside when you watch the film), this is an AWESOME movie. Bruce Willis still kicks all kinds of terrorist ass. His quips still rule. His life still pretty much sucks.

This movie isn't as good as the original, but the absurdity of its audacity is actually kind of astounding (for example, McClane manages to destroy both a helicopter and a fighter jet with a flying-police car and a semi-truck, respectively). Have I said, AWESOME, yet?

Die Hard 4.0: 94 out of 100.

I bet Bruce is still pissed at Ashton or whoever. That's why he delivers.

this movie was shit.

the dialogue and banter was good- willis is always good in this role and the geek they paired him with was a good choice. most of the shootout scenes were awesome and the action was non-stop.

that being said, the plot devices and anything pertaining to the story sucked balls. big, huge sweaty ones. oh yeah, every computer in america can be hacked in 10 seconds. all you need to do is wave your hands over a keyboard and it's done. oh, and every security camera is not only plugged into a computer, it's also connected to the internet for convenient camera views from the bad guys. not only that, but when the government decides to build a secret server site to download all the financial information, they leave it completely unguarded, even when they know that the government computers are being hacked. yeah.

the bad guy was completely dull and devoid of any charm, wit, or scariness. "i have hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of computer equipment, semi trucks, helicopters, fake uniforms, and the money to pay 100 hackers to write me code...but i need more money. grrr. i'm scary."

i felt like they were insulting my intelligence. it was a shitty plot, and anything they couldn't explain they just skipped over and blew something else up, hoping you'd ignore it. fucking dumb.

I do agree that the main bad guy was pretty crappy.

That said, I think you're fucking stupid.

I liked the movie a bunch. The role was McClain to the max because he's not about technology: He's about kicking ass and that's exactly what he did here. If this is the last movie of the "Die Hard" franchise, then it was a good end. The main bad guy? It would've been a bit better if he an older and well-established actor playing him (like John Travolta: He plays a kickin' villian no matter how annoying he is otherwise). Just IMO

the first Die Hard movie had a great story. what the hell are you smoking? it was highly improbable, but the idea of experienced guerilla terrorists tapping into the security and phone lines of an office building is plausible. the fact that the head bad guy even knew the tactics the local police would use was a fantastic touch.

hacking every single electrical plant, public office building, the FBI and the CIA at the same time in an hour, using elevator cameras that are magically connected to the internet to find a cop's daughter, and the government "abandoning" the most sensitive server site in the fucking country when they know the entire government is being hacked is fucking laughable.

entertain me, don't treat me like a lobotomized monkey.

I'm not trying to incite you to soylent green rioting, but really, I would think even the most die hard (excuse me) optimist would have given up on plot after 2 & 3.

i wasn't all googly eyed over part 2, and 3 was saved by samuel muthafuckin' jackson.

also, at least in both of their plots was the thread of plausibility- it is possible for someone to completely cut off an airport, or bomb a city and threaten to use police frequency to activate more bombs. these are localized events. hacking every computer in america in an hour? come on. the plot was weak sauce.

T_T, that is awesome and I'd give you a humor point, but you don't need any more and I'm out of credits anyway.
