My motorhead buddy was talking about a new holley head set, I bet that is it. He was looking for new heads for his Nova. If he enlightens me, I will give you a report.

My Polara could use new heads, I am sure. Or new valves and valve seats, which isn't cheap. Blah.

Oddly enough I don't even have a Holley carb, my Dodge has a Carter and my Ford has three Strombergs.

Actually it's 1,200 for the set, intake, lunati cam, etc.
Too late anyway, it's now paid for. My dad got tired of me toasting his 68 SS K-ro's ass. So I get to build a new engine for him.
Spent 2,800 at Jegs today, and not done yet, but it's his money, so fuck it. Let him buy all he wants.

Currently this is what were looking at.
350 4 bolt
350 forged crank
6" eagle rods
Keith Black flat top forged pistons, correct compression height for the 6" rods 10.2:1
That Holley systemmax setup, with head, intake, Lunati cam, etc..
Roller rockers, 1.5 ratio
headers, and flowmaster all the way out the back.
Gonna have to take the timing set back and get one that's adjustable so I can degree the cam properly.
reciprocating parts are on the way to the machine shop for finishing and balancing.

I knew someone else in here used to race. It was you wasn't it Jyates?

If I can talk him outta it, we're not using a Holley carb, prolly one of the newer carter's or some other vacuum secondary since it's an automatic.

I knew about your Dodge, but what's this about a Ferd with 3 dueces?

I have a 46 Ford Deluxe business coupe. It has the original flathead V-8 with 3 strombergs, a Sharp aluminum intake, Edelbrock aluminum heads, headers, functional sidepipes, and a Lincoln floor shift.

It's Black with flames, fender skirts, full Moon hubcaps, pinstriping, dummy spot lights and tuck & roll interior.

It was all done in the 50's and could use a tune-up, the paint is cracking and I think it needs a clutch. So for now it's getting dusty in a garage.

Funny thing about a Holly; the old '81 Shitvette I used to have came stock with one. A little aquarim pump size one but a Holly nonetheless. hehehe

For the most part I've always felt that muscle cars look cool but what is it about them that attracts morons. Not all gearheads are but it does seem to lean disproportionally toward that sect of folks. Anyone else know the type I'm talking about?

I once went to a British Car & Motorcycle show here and it was a completely different crowd than your average car show. Families picnicing and stuff like that. Plus there were some great bikes there.

heh dm I have a old ford coupe to. but right now I'm working on a 1985 El Camino I'm riping out the old 305 thats in it and replaceing it with a 327 that I have rebuilt currently I have an Edelbrock performer rpm intake polished holley 600cfm carb I have stuck a new cam in it but I cant remember the spects off the top of my head for the cam last weekend I gave it a head job (got a buddy of mine with a head shop) so we ported and polished the old powerpack heads that are on it. also I stuck a good and noisey gear drive on it not for any other good reason than I like the noise. also I have stuck in new forged pistons and rods and tool steel wrist pins. Hi flow oilpump and a 140gph fuel pump just in case I need the extra gas. as far as the body of the car goes I am revamping the suspension with a hi-pro sway bar kit and have been toying around with slapping a 90 camaro frount clip on it along with haveing a rear rolpan made for it and ground effects what ya think El Camaro hehe and I used to drag race motorcycles till I got bit by a ford.

Your talking about those people that think along these lines.

Chrome makes a car go fast.

Glasspacks = horsepower

Any bottle with the words "octane", "blue", or "boost" goes in the gas tank, and they can feel it.

I laugh at those guys, as I pass them.

Are thinking of chopping it yourself, or having someone else do it? I was going to chop my S-10, when I did the backhalf and rollcage, but money and experience were against me.

S-10 is still in the driveway stripped down to a frame and cab. Having a kid will do that.

Exactly BnB. Go to a drag strip and I guarantee you'll see a whole herd of em. Around here the mating call of the redneck grease monkey seems to be the rack of the "cherry-bomb" muffler. Idiots!

I used to love hearing my father tell of dragging back in the 60's. He was into gearing instead of brute force and can still do wonders to a v-6. I loved the way he had our old family '62 Fairlane decked out when I was a kid. She looked ugly as all hell but was one of the trully great "sleepers." The time he waxed a MG Midget packed with a 400BB is still talked about when the old folks get together. As he puts it, "All the Smoke and Thunder in Hell won't help you a bit when it comes to the green light and the finish line. It's all about results" The man amazes me still!
