The thallium dye test is no big deal, really. At most it might make you briefly nauseous.
Catheterization is quite invasive, and somewhat painful, as they have to insert the catheter into the femoral artery at the groin, and thread it up to your heart through the arterial system. It is quite interesting to lie on the table and watch the progress on the monitor they usually position so you can see the entire internal process. I had that done in '97, fortunately they found no significant blockages.
