My attention was severely tested by the academic whiff of part-two's I-shall-now-summarise-part-one-and-tell-what-I-now-propose-to-go-on-to-say-in-part-two opener. Subsequently, I failed to reach the cliffhanger. Your piece certainly proves its point brilliantly.

Mass media and the internet leave everyone intoxicated with the delusional lifestyle of wealth and false entitlement, desensitizing them to the enormous painstaking costs it takes most people to get to that glorious plateau- enormous costs not just to themselves but to those who work for them, not to mention surrounding environments and ecosystems.
So it's trickle down consciousness without the trickle down work ethic- the flash without the underlying necessary substance- that leads to a wasteful, irresponsible, arrogant generation.
But we've actually gone beyond that now; what I described was more of a '60s phenomenon: now that sensational escapism has become so mainstream and ingrained into everyone's consciousness, to escape is to escape from escapism itself (hence the popularity of crack-cocaine and other drugs that serve to deaden rather than enhance).
Drowning in mass produced kitsch culture, the kids of today just want to zone out, to pay for their ticket and go home. The "impatient generation" knows exactly what it takes to live the glamourous glorious life; it's that they just don't give a fuck, because they've already tasted all they want of it- they're sick of it- and besides, it's not so great after all, even after all that work!
They've finally cluing in after all these years: it turns out that good ol' happy Consumerist Joe is really just another fucking idiot; that's right- the Archie Bunker/ Large Filipino moronic conformist dream betrays it's own Nietzschean nihilistic nightmare, especially when it's shoved in one's face ad nauseum year after year.
No, they (we) would rather sit back and wait for someone to come along with something -anything- better (and if that never happens, to just sit back, smoke some more, and wait...).
Which is a good thing, since it reflects a crucial turning point towards the better: a more independent minded, critically thinking, abstractly thinking generation- yes, one that may actually take more responsibility- who realize within themselves the awesome creative powers to...
Make of their own lives a work of art? No- that's what Nietszche would have hoped for, but as he foresaw, not everyone- perhaps no one- is up to such a task. Not now, not ever.
Most people today are too terrified by the emptiness of their own lives to even consider them as templates for a work of art; but there is hope, for a more authentic (although still mass-produced- and by that I mean strictly scientific, not gangsta-nigga), technological culture:
Yes, that repulsive, disgusting bowing before the omnipotent forces of nature- forces that make us (and our entire "formidable" history of arts and culture) seem so pathetic, so miniscule- that great binding of Human and Other- that is to be our humble salvation: that bridge- the crossing that all men must take into manhood- even though it has yet to be built.

I only read it to confirm that I was right not to read it.

I'm not reading it either, but I'm pretty sure I disagree. Furthermore, were I to read it, I could probably come up with a pretty logical and well supported argument as to why I disagree.
Rather that go to all this trouble, though, I'm going to declare victory and go smoke some dope.

Don't worry. Since I read it in a personally detached manner I can objectively quote the most profound insight here:

The readable version:
Culture and language have become meaningless functions of technology.
And no, I'm not assuming that I'm the first person in history to come up with the idea.

They've become far more meaningless in the postmodern era than ever before. Technology is inexorable accelerated human evolution, which is different from just human breeding.

I just did- or rather everyone who responded to my original post did. They predictably expressed cynicism and apathy regarding my post, perceiving more the phenomenon of my presence- made possible only by recent technology- than the actual conceptual content of my post.
