It seems to me that you are not the problem here. I mean what do his parents want? A younger version of you or for their son not to be gay and date women?
Soon that dude will see that some day he won't need his parents.
But right now maybe he does.

I'm not sure if it's unnecessary interference or just good, but belated, parenting. Either way, it's not something that should come into the picture at my age.

Personally, I think if he is still young enough to be grounded and basically under his parents wing, as it were, you should stay the fuck away and leave him alone until he is "old enough" to make his own mind up and say fuck youz i'm off.

I haven't caught how old he is but it all sounds a bit wrong...I'm not being judgmental, but i could be, I am just giving you my honest opinion.

Dude, it's trouble. Of he's lettin his folks get involved, i.e. letting them take money out of his account as well as taking his passport then it ain't worth it. Any feller or gal who lets their parents have that sort of control over them will be trouble to have a relationship with.

The relationship will not go anywhere methinks. Get back in the game and find another feller to get it on with.

while he is ALOT younger than you, he isn't young enough to have mummy and daddy still controlling his bank accounts and passport. i sense he has major issues that are not worth the effort. if you were hetero, i guess we'd be giving you high fives on drilling that young piece of tail....so, kudos you big sexy fuckbear.

It's all a bit strange .. how would it be possible to have your parents take your money out of your bank account at 28 or even 18 for that matter? You'd be an adult and the banks would tell them to fuck right off.

As for the passport ... a trip to the embassy ... wait in line for a few hours and hey presto you can get a shiny new passport for a few euros admin!!!

saying all that Ireland's about 100 years behind the times and VERY religious so you probably weren't going to be Mr popular from the start.

I think Crunkle makes a VERY good point with his last statement!! *high fives*

he's 18. my ex is 28. I'm not willing to get in the middle of his family drama. it was rather unexpected for me. I told him that he had no right to their money, but he has a right to his passport. but the whole thing left a weird taste in my mouth.

it was a great vacation and a fun date. I was willing to welcome him over here if he were coming, but I'm not willing to get into family drama above and beyond what would be normal if someone were in the closet. It's not worth it. There are plenty of guys I could date over here who have already left the nest and grown up. I could also just be single and read a lot, which suits me just as well. I said a while back that I was sick of being everyone's starter boyfriend, and I meant that.

I got into this when George died. I manufactured a romance to make myself feel better. None of this mattered at the time because it was all just an online thing and the particulars of it were rather irrelevant. It grew legs of its own, however, and some of this stuff came more sharply into focus. The thing is, this isn't 1998. My life isn't shit, and my temporary fix wasn't really necessary in the long run. I got over George's death, and I was left with this situation. I considered it a good excuse for an overseas vacation at that point, and I went with it. The only problem is that it involved other people. Well, he fell in love. I could do a relationship with him with no problem. We get along fine. I played right along with it myself, and my feelings are real as well. I'm just old enough to know that shit passes if you stop feeding it. And we planted that seed in a rather harsh environment, so my expectations of it bearing any real fruit were slim to begin with.

If he wants to deal with this stuff and come over, I'm still fine with it. I think I'm far enough away at this point that I won't have hordes of angry Irish folk crowding my doorstep bearing torches. I told him to have them call me if they have any questions. I mean, they haven't even mentioned it to his dad. Nobody talks to his dad. His sister apparently goes through relationships like I do socks. I'll put my record up against theirs without flinching. I should perhaps be embarrassed for getting into this at my age, but I'm certainly not ashamed, and I'm fine with taking their call.

In the meantime, I'll just carry on with my life. I have two dogs and a dad to look after, and I have meetings and two sponsees and a job I enjoy. I don't care for drama anymore. And I don't cry over relationships.

Atta boy. I like young tail myself but I wouldn't be ashamed of nailing a 42 year old mother of two, either. ( I did that when I was 27).

could've been worse. I could've just got drunk when George died. I did this instead. It was much more interesting.
