There seems to be a strong need to feel assaulted and victimized in your strange backwards culture. People exercising free speech are great for that.

good post.
Obamas church is also openly racist, but no one says anything. Faricon got a life time achievement award from them but no one says anything. As some one who has a very open mind when it comes to religion, because I find the closed minded christians almost as nauseating as I find the closed minded atheist for ironic merits, but Im still willing to listen and consider all of the views of the religious, Palins religious beliefs are certainly less offensive than Obamas.

Wright used a wrong choice of words when he was trying to make an analogy. The rest of his sermon is rather typical of sermons you find in a lot of places. But what's important here is Obama did not say this so why use it against him? Then Obama decides to leave Wright and automatically people say it's simply a political reason as to why he left. Well,of course it is.
Imagine how bad Obama would be treated if he stayed.
Now this news that Palin switched churches when she became a governor is news to me.
In fact, what people do in a church or anything that has to do with beliefs should never ever cross paths with politics.
Sara is pretty much left alone with her right to worship.
Did Obama get the same treatment?
I'm sorry but Palin rubs me the wrong way. Even McCain had to do some damage control over what Palin has been doing.
I grew up Christian thru a youth group and all that enough to say the way Palin has been conducting herself is in no way christian like.
She can believe what she wants but she is not being an example to other christians.
Far from it.
The words "God Damn America" of course it's strong words. But when the "Rapture" happens isn't that what "God" intends to do with the majority of Americans?
It's all smears. And frankly I am utterly appalled at how so many believe in the utterly insane and this goes both ways.
I've taken religion away from politics.
I've taken all the smears away from politics.
I will NOT ALLOW SMEARS to change my thinking.
I vote on the ISSUES.

Politics in general in this country have been an assault on its citizens for the last 30 - 40 years or more. It used to be about issues with a dash of character assassination, but now it's character assassination with a dash of issues. One of the things that irritates me most is when people talk about the "tone" and how they're going to change it. They never do. It seems like everyone has decided that Nixon's Book of Dirty Tricks is the way to run a campaign. Fuck the sludge factory.

I agree completely, as both sides are guilty. It's disengenuous to think one party is worse than the other, but the hyper-partisan tend to point the finger at the other side. Once again, both sides share the blame.
One issue I would take with all of that is there's a difference between character assassination and questioning ones record/choices/stances. Love or hate Palin she seems to be hit predominantly on character assassinations and Obama is hit more on his record and the choices he made previously.
Typical hits -
Palin - religious idiot from a small town, dumb as fuck.
Obama - his church, hanging with ayers, liberal politics, Acorn, et al.
That's a distinct difference.

It took me one minute to find the facts on this -
Q:
Did McCain crash five planes? Did he cause the 1967 Forrestal fire?
Is the information below true? I have heard that McCain crashed five planes. In searching the web I found this information. It was located at [DELETED]
Thank you for more information.
A:
No. Chain e-mails and Internet postings that make that claim are mistaken. One crash was found to be his fault, but the Navy commended his piloting skills.
Update, Oct. 12: We have further updated this article to include details from newly released Navy records of an investigation that found McCain's first crash was due to pilot error, and not, as McCain has stated, an engine failure. The L.A. Times story also pinpointed the dates of early incidents more closely, and we have rewritten and re-ordered some sections to reflect this new information.
Update, Sept 19: This item was originally posted Sept. 5, 2008. We have updated it to include additional details of the 1967 Forrestal disaster from official documents, which differ from McCain's own, widely accepted recollection. We have also included McCain's admission of "daredevil clowning" in an accident that did not result in loss of his plane.
We have had numerous questions about this widely circulated claim. Some say McCain "lost" five planes, others that he "crashed" five planes. All offer this alleged "fact" as evidence that he was a bad pilot. All are incorrect.
McCain did lose two Navy aircraft while piloting them. One crash was found to be be McCain's fault, the other due to an engine failure of undetermined cause.. A third was destroyed on the deck of the carrier USS Forrestal when a missile fired accidentally from another plane hit either the plane next to McCain's or, less likely, his own aircraft, triggering a disastrous fire that killed 134 sailors and nearly killed McCain. A fourth plane was lost when he was shot down over North Vietnam on a bombing mission over Hanoi.
A fifth alleged "crash" turns out to be a misinterpretation of a flight accident that did not result in the loss of the aircraft. McCain admitted to causing that incident through "daredevil clowning" but returned safely.
