That's an interesting question.
On the one hand, I would say that no, the cougar was just doing what cougars do. It was probably the skier's fault anyway (details would help on that though). If a snake bites a hiker, you don't hunt down and kill that specific snake. You say to the hiker "sucks to be you".
On the other hand, we can't have cougars killing people. And once they get the taste for blood, they'll be more likely to do it again in the future (I have NO idea if that is true or not, that is just what they say about tigers in India and shit).
But then again, if you kill a cougar for the POTENTIAL to cause harm, you might as well kill every fucking cougar, cuz I guarantee you at some point it will happen again.
BUT, in this case you would not only be killing for the POTENTIAL to cause harm, but also because harm has already been caused. And as retribution of sorts.
But, it was also a National Park.
Interesting question. I am torn, I would have to say.
But then again, it's only a fucking big cat. So I don't care that much either way.
I would have to say off the cuff to let the cougar go. Good question though. A lot of things to consider.
