beware the friend of a friend when hiring people to do work on your home.
my water heater died about 6 months ago and i got an ex-gf's hubby to fix it.
he was an almost-plumber about 3 weeks shy of his trade certificate.
he installed the pressure valve back to front 3 times before he worked out why H2O was pissing out of my heater.
still, he did do it cheap.

Class [p] for building your own house from the ground up. I'm sure Wonder approves.
My main water line is hard to get to. A small hole on the paneling and I used to have a long handle but it's been lost for years and I haven't found a replacement anywhere.
I better make that panel hole bigger and get a regular handle just in case so I can get to it if I have to. Down here only the water company can turn off our main line on the street.
In any event I insulate my pipes when it gets cold out.
