the scary part is arranged marriages have a higher success rate than the more 'western' variety.
having said that, i find the concept of arranged marriages abhorrent, if only because of my own cultural upbringing.
moving or considering a partner from another country isn't entirely without merit. i had to find my soulmate in america.

Jaze I'm going thru something similar right now as far as traditions go and it revolves around my faith,my mother and my wonderful older brother the southern fucking minister that I feel is ruining my life. Right now the details are too personal but it will come out when it does but as far as traditions go I kinda know a little how you are feeling being born in the Philippines myself and going thru a generation gap with American culture.
So what did I do? I left New York and travelled 3,000 miles away to Colorado all by my little self to go to a trade school so I can be free.
Traditions are important but is pleasing your parents more important than your happiness?
You checked this guy out and your vibes are telling you he's not the one. The choice is yours and yours only.
People be writing books about this stuff.

LF, I'm thankful for this respond. No one's told it to me in this way. And I've admired your courage throughout the time I've known you and what I know about your family background and your origins. Yes, I suppose we can relate to each other in some extend.
It's not as easy as dropping everything and heading to the US (or any other country for that matter) Believe me, I've thought this out many times in my head and I'm entertaining the thought as I type this too. But where do I start, what do I do? How do I get to where I want to be at?
Also, I've written tones of books in my head relating to this, haha.
