Not sure what ya mean by speed decks but I build all mine with the intention of arriving at a win condition in as few turns as possible. I always have fun and my opponents are hanging out with Matt so they have to be having fun.
Deckmasterin is a huge math battle you have with yourself and it's really pleasing to see it work out with speed. When I figure out how to win in 0-3 turns in standard I'll be having even more fun.
I'm hooked on competitive games (Street Fighter, WoW PVP, DDR, etc. (Probably why MTG drew me in fast)) and it's always about beating the shit out of the other guy fast.
Strangely enough in traditional games like basketball and table tennis I prefer a prolonged, close game. 21-0 would ultimately not be fun for either player.
I went 2. in the prerelease today out of 36 players. Only game I lost was the final.
In the first six rounds I played a strictly mediocre BG deck, but I played it well AND was insanely lucky. In the ensuing final draft I made a pretty good UW control deck. Play of the day was a Mind Control on a Thran Golem. No pics, because I suck.
Switched my prize for a discount on the commander decks...

Thanks for pics. That's a pretty sad room. And where are the mandatory pony tails?
Sad like the people playing, or the room itself? It's in a masonic temple.
Getting ready to head to the midnight M12 release. Gotta get my fix of that Garruk's Horde mix.
It was a cube draft. My musclehead friend Tim I brought kicked some ass with the black red deck he made. I made a black red also and got my ass kicked. On the last pack I got first pick and it was Chandra The Firebrand so it made me stupid.
I mean who the fuck uses two copies of Goblin Bangchuckers? Stupid people is who
