PNG's "TURKEY SUPREME THREAD"
PNG:
Our 2 countries have more in common than any other of these bastardnations here, we're connected through several million turkish people, who work and live in Germany.
we share many influences, bad or good, doesn't matter.
Since your country sets it's future course in foreign and inner policies now and there's a change in the air, I'm very interested of your view.
Since we have a turkish-native here, it would be nice to hear your opinion about what's happening in your country.
Maybe you can explain some procedures and make a prediction for the future.
As far as I know:
- Erdogan is an islamist. secretly, openly...I don't know, but all media puts him in the islamistic camp.
- Turkey always had a strong military, which also has a strong influence in policies
--> the military understands itself as keeper of Attatürks heritage of secularization, which is good from my western point of view....division of religion and gouverment is really progessive in my eyes and important.
- Military and Erdogan fought ---> Erdogan won....
What happens now?!
The west looks worried in your direction, will you turn your back to europe?
Will you come closer to Iran?
Do you want to recreate your strong influence and importance for that middle-east region like you had during the Osman-Empire?
Isn't the west-turkey very "europeanized", what does the modern youth think about Erdogan's move?
Does your society developes back to a stricter view of religion instead of a liberalized view?
I can just suppose, but I think turks were always a proud nation, a leading nation in the muslim world....after WWI their empire crumbled, they pretty much sank into insignificance....that hurt the proud turkish soul.
So....do you people justify Erdogan's aggressive, religious politics with the gain of influence and power?
Are they behind this politics?
Or is there any resistance?
What do your intellectuals say?
I'd really like to know this thinks....and since I read much about it, I thought it would be dumb not asking you for your thoughts to this.
Since you're an Asylee, which is a stronger bound than a random flag we were born under...

I saw this scenario before my inner eye, too.
But I remember, I read that persians and Turks hate somehow the shit out of them.
Musn't mean anything, but if PNG would give us a quick mood-report out of turkey's heart (!!!!!!!!!!!!)...we maybe knew more.

What's the Syria / Turkey relationship like? Shooting down one of your planes was a pretty stupid thing to do. Guess they can do what the fuck they like with Russia heavily on their side.

i just know syrains and turks visited their relatives in huge numbers but since a year and haLF no news we have received from syrians but of the chaos and restless' they are in. even more turks its been said are giving guns to protestors or terrorists etc. it's been announced that the f4 was on course from north cyprus's borders to nato base (kisecik)at hatay provinence and was shot only 3 miles from syrian border to mediterranean".
the incident timing as usual needs to be discussed; after turkish pm left americam pres. and on the way back... 1, two army pilots had escaped to lebanon and war planes were restricted to fly.. generrally speaking, europe needed money from alternative organs, israels reins that hold them towards palestine is about to came loose and ofc elections in usa.
soz but them guns meant to be used

Given that Turkey is an important member of NATO, and that NATO ties have very recently neen reaffirmed and supported, any shooting war between Turkey and Syria which can be spun too appear to be Syria's fault as the aggressor will likely suck in American and other NATO forces.

Ahhhhh .... they thought it was more of their air force defecting, and shot down a Turkish plane instead. They are getting a tad jumpy!

I see the Turks and Syrians are shelling eachother. I guess if Turkey gets involved which is part of NATO, then the Russians might join in the fun and help Assad fight the uprising.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-19849748
quote: Turkey's military has returned fire across the border after Syrian shells again landed on Turkish soil, television channels say.
The incident happened in southern Hatay province on Friday afternoon, Turkish media said. No injuries were reported.
On Wednesday Syrian mortar fire killed five Turkish civilians in the town of Akcakale.
That prompted Turkey to return fire and its parliament to authorise military action inside Syria.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had warned Syria earlier on Friday at a large rally in Istanbul that the countries were "not far" from war.
