I have only read the comics, but they quickly taught us - at least by collection 5 - that you don't want to hope for anything or attach any feelings to the protagonists.
And of course it's a soap opera. That was pretty much the intention. But you get to watch people with soap opera sensibilities get eaten by the living dead.

I've only watched the first episode. I think I was annoyed at how there is apparently only one plot for every zombie film in existence.

it did have cool visual effects, though. I do think it's odd that for a very gory show it gets TV-14 ratings while something like Wilfred will get TV-MA .

I agree I was super sick of Andrea I was glad to see her go but wasn't happy the governor wasn't killed off. Without spoiling anything for next season I wont speak about the comics.
