Umm... never happened for me. I get along with some people really well... so that I can chat with them forever or the like, but never "chemistry", whatever that is. Most friendships I make are accidents that happen through being stuck together for extended periods of time (I make a lot of friends in class, though once class is over I lose most of them).

I definetly believe that people can have unbelievable chemistry.
My friends all know that I'm pretty off the wall outgoing.. but when I first meet people I tend to be very shy. Some people just make me feel so welcome that I can act like myself around them and my shyness is left behind... yet getting along / hitting it off well with others is not the same thing as chemistry.
Chemistry is rare and isn't shared with many people. It's when you are so into the person that everything else in the room fades into a distant and is almost forgotten.. you are so absorbed into them.. and you could talk for hours but it would seem like only a few minutes.. you just want to talk forever... nothing about your conversation or the time spent is bland.. every second is entertaining and makes you feel important, fuzzy, and amazing... and you don't want the time spent to end..
well.. unless that progresses..

I guess I'm a little surprised no one mentioned this yet, but a lot of what people call chemistry (and at it's extreme: "love at first sight"), is physical attraction and nothing more.

Think about it - you hardly know this person, yet you feel oddly drawn into them, or using Datura's phrasing, "everything else in the room fades into a distant (sic) and is almost forgotten". It's apparent this isn't happening because you admire the person's values, hell, you're not going to find out for another couple hours whether they have an STD!

You've simply subconciously identified characteristics in their appearance or voice or smell that trigger positive feelings, based on something you've experienced before.

Or maybe I have just never seen that color of brown shine just like that....

when she said "you know what im talking about. you meet someone and sparks FLY..." I referred to it as someone that I had already met in the past who I shared good chemistry with. Not some random guy at a houseparty. I don't believe in love at first sight etc. either.

And yet having good chemistry also doesn't make you 'in love' with them.
