Phony $200 Bill with Bush Picture Used in Kentucky

DANVILLE, Ky. (Reuters) - Talk about funny money.
Police in Kentucky are looking for a customer who succeeded in paying for a $2 order at a fast-food restaurant with a phony $200 bill featuring a picture of President George W. Bush and a depiction of the White House with a lawn sign saying, "We like broccoli."

Authorities say the female cashier at a Dairy Queen in Danville even gave the culprit $198 in real money as change.

"Essentially, the story is that somebody at a drive-in ordered some food and passed a $200 novelty deal with George Bush on it," Danville Police Detective Bob Williamson said.

"At a distance it looks like a real bill, it's got the green color," Williamson said when asked how the cashier possibly could mistake it for genuine money.

The cartoonish bill was accepted on Sunday evening by the Dairy Queen cashier despite having Bush on one side and an oil well on the other. The phony bill also depicted the White House lawn with yard signs reading "U.S. deserves a tax cut," "No more scandals" and "We like broccoli," the last apparently referring to Bush's father's admitted dislike for the vegetable.

No U.S. currency has a picture of Bush, let alone a reference to liking broccoli.

Because there is no actual $200 currency, the culprit could face a charge of theft by deception but not counterfeiting, Williamson said.

Yeah, funny story that. I heard about it in the news here (Oz). It tells you something about some people, eh? That they would rather not stir up a fuss and question authority so they can move on quietly with their lives. Then again, the person may have been a complete moron.

I don't know if this is stupidity in action.

Its a fucking Dairy Queen cashier. The job sucks. If I were in that position, I would cash the bill, just for the fuck of it. Sort of like employee revenge.

On the radio news this morning, I heard briefly about a guy that chopped off his hand in a workshop, and because the pain was so intense, he picked up the air-powered nail-gun and shot himself in the head 10X. Sheesh! That's some real pain. He was reported last in the hospital, the hand could not be re-attached for some reason, and they were still in surgery trying to pull out the nails.

Poor sufferin' fool.

First of all, yes people are that stupid--especially in the south (I think it's the humidity). I can say this because I lived in Texas for over ten years and barely managed to escape a few years ago.

Second, in the cashier's defense, he/she probably doesn't get paid enough to pay close enough attention.

I had worked at the dairy queen up the street from my house for 8 months..

One morning a guy tried to pay me with a fake $20.... at first you couldnt tell it was, but it was a different texture and weight... I pointed it out right away to my boss...

You could tell the guy knew too... but my boss just let him go..
