The Majority Of You Are Rather Pathetic.

I have been lurking around quite a bit for the past week or so. Two things struck me while reading the things that have been going on:

1. The Majority of you are extreamly selfish and do not care about anything but yourselves.

2. This selfishness undermines the "community" it seem you are trying to accomplish with this website.

I truely do not understand this. How is it the majority of you seem to be striving for this one goal. Yet you only have yourselves in mind when doing so. Maybe this is yet another question for the ages. I have already had a run in with a couple of people in the chat room. Quite interesting people, but with alot of anger. This also strikes me as odd. Why all the anger? I simpley came here to add my opinion, just as the rest of you do. Yet they do not like what I have to say. This too makes no sense. I guess I have to expect that from some people. People often do not like to hear the truth. I only hope some of you can learn to take the truth when you hear it. Most likely, that is asking to much.

Is it me, or is this redundant? For one who considers himself above others, I have doubts aboput this one's viability.

Considering the fact that you're rude, pompous, arrogant, and smugly superior, I think a token amount fo anger is to be expected. Actually, you remind me of myself, and that puts in the position of wondering whether or not I should observe you a bit more before I brutalize you. But flame wars are not what Asylum is all about, so I'm going to hold back for once and see what happens. Wouldn't want to be accused of "elitism", Necromancer.

Not exactly redundant. You can be selfish, but still care about others. Being selfish means you put your needs and desires ahead of others. It has become apparent to me that the majority of people here ONLY care about themselves.

Perhaps a great deal of the problem, for you, stems from the fact that no one takes you seriously. It is difficult to take the time to frame a serious response in a thread where the author appears to either be wanking off or trolling.

True enough. It is of no fault of my own that the people here do not take me seriously. I am being very serious. I have brought up valid observations. Yet all they can do is be sarcastic twards me. I was hoping someone could bring forth some evidence that what I said was false. It seems that The Asylum could be rather enjoyable. An open forum to trade opinions and ideas. Yet most of the people use it to piss way time. They have no intellectual thoughts to add. So they use sarcasm, or try to "flame" at various people. My question is why? While it may be fun to some, what about those that have enjoyed time here, but tire of it because of the lack of constant intellectual discussion?

That is exactly what I have done DevilMoon. I have jumped in. And I do agree with you. Being serious all the time can get a tad boring. Yet why do people feel the need to make sarcastic and asinine comments in serious threads? It is very counter productive to the thread.

There is a great deal of intellectual discussion here. There is also a great deal of frivolous fucking off. Not everyone who joins Asylum has the same goals as you. Some come here to be serious, others to be silly, but most come here to do both where it is appropriate.

What you don't understand is that for the most part, Asylum is tolerant of all viewpoints, and yours is aggressively negative. Many of the members here simply choose to ignore that sort of thing, as they got their fill of it long ago and elsewhere. For the most part, this is a quiet place where most everyone gets along.

Your observations are not worth very much to the seasoned veterans of this site. Some will take up your challenge, many will not. The fact that this very topic was done to death here recently doesn't bode all that well for responses to yet another thread of this type. It's all been said, and said better. I told you in chat that you had made a silly move in making THIS your first topic. I can respect that you felt compelled to post it, but if you had bothered to read further down to the thread clearly marked "The State of the Asylum according to tack", it might not have escaped your notice that after NINE FUCKING PAGES people might be done talking about it for now.

I would link you to that thread, but I think it would do you some good to find it on your own. Consider it a challenge, if you must.

Once again, you have made an excellent point. I admit, I may have come on a bit harsh. I apologize for being so blunt. I made those observations and simply commented on them. More than anything, I am looking for answers. Why are things this way? Have any of you asked yourselves that question? Why the need to be so sarcastic all the time? Why the need to flame people first, and ask questions later? Why the selfishness? If you are a community as you say you are. Should you not care, for the most part, about everyone else? Granted some people are not going to get along, but when someone is unhappy with something that is going on, be it on here or in their lives, when they try and talk about it, shouldn't people take them seriously? It does happen, as in the thread by PaintCHiP's sister, but it seem that alot of people tend to be sarcastic and sometimes down right mean about it. Why is that? I tend to believe that for someone to take other people seriously, they must first take themselves seriously. Who here takes themselves seriously even a little bit?
