Tipping Creatively
I'm throwing together a little list of creative ways to tip your server when you go out to eat. Good and bad. Here's what I've came up with through personal experience in tipping and being tipped:
*Oragami*: Hearts, cranes, squares, weird funky shapes, etc.
*Pocket lint*: Anything neat or mildly interesting you can find in your pocket or purse that you are willing to part with along with, of course, money. For example: gum, pez dispenser, business card, condom, chick tract (heheh), quarter machine toy... the list doesn't stop here. Get creative.
*Window display*: Dip the bills in water and slap them to the window. They'll stick.
*Go fish*: get change for a buck or two or more and drop it in the bottom of your unfinished beverage.
*The stripper*: Fold the bill up longways, wave it at your server, and when they come close enough, tuck it into their pocket or apron.
*Coke lines*: Empty a packet of artificial sweetener onto the table (sugar is too grainy), cut it up into lines much like one would cocaine, and roll up the bill tightly and just set it up next to the lines. Note, this tip only works with one bill. Make it a 5.
*Little note*: Easy and VERY effective. Just write a super-short thank you note with your tip. I got one and i showed it off to the entire staff. It was sweet.
*Play money*: buy play money and cover your table in it. make it the almost-real looking kind. scatter it all over the table, along with the tip.
Have you ever tipped creatively?
Do share.
