Birth Control Question

Hey for all of you women of the forum, I'm curious to see what your preferred method of birth control is? My Ex used to use Depo and I thought that was a pretty nifty idea but it has some weird side effects, similar to the pill. Not sure if this topic has been discussed before but I was curious after reading a few articles on the subject dealing with birth control and potential birth defects. (My Cousin recently gave birth to a wonderful baby boy who unfortunately was deaf, and the doctors think it was possibly because of the birth control she used before she got pregnant) SO let me know

I think the birth defects caused by birth control is that the birth does not happen.

Anyway, karen uses Norplant. Though I warn you, it makes women into raving pyschotic lunatics. karen is no exception.

i am lucky to have the ones i do, other than having only one ovary left, the filopian tube on that side is tied off.

i used the pill for a while... can't remember which ones though, it was a while ago. but it kinda fucked me up. i got anaemia cos of it. i haven't used the pill for about 3 or 4 years now.
so it looks like it's condoms for me. although i'd quite like to buy a femidom for comedy value. i hear they make super water bombs.

I was on Depo - I hated it - Now I'm on the pill - I don't think its working so I hate it now too - I'm thinking about getting my tubes tied and having it reversed in 15 years when I want kids - I'm allergic to latex, spermicide & lubricants - thought about norplant too, but I don't like how it looks - might get an IUD, but my cramps are severe enough as it is - a diaphragm is out of the question - damnit, maybe I should just have a sex change operation... I hate being woman.

I've been using Depo since it became available in the U.S. (1994) and absolutely love it. My doc thinks I should be the Depo poster child because it works so well for me, I even give the injections myself. I don't get periods, cramps, bloating or monthly mood swings (which may be a point my S.O. would debate). It all went away the fist time I got the shot. I cringe at the thought of having to deal with any of that again.

It's not for everyone though, I've known women that had nothing but problems like breakthrough bleeding, depression, and loss of sex drive to the point they didn't need birth control anyway!

If it works for you, you'll likely love it and hate it if it doesn't. Unfortunately you have to live with it for 3 months if it doesn't.

I know, it sounds bad. Really giving the shot yourself doesn't hurt. The first time I broke out in a sweat trying to stick myself. I had about 10 little prick marks just because I couldn't commit and go for it. After I finally did it, I was surprised. If you stick yourself FAST and push the plunger SLOW it doesn't hurt at all. Having the nurse do it is always worse, they just jab and shoot.
