Cool What would you "Die" for?

I know alot of people say they would die for people or things (especially family), but I'm talking about concepts, issues, thoughts, beliefs, etc..

What one thing are you so passionate about that you would lay your life down to help keep it alive? I see lots of people who push their beliefs and certain issues, but are they willing to take it to the end? Are they willing to "draw a line in the sand" and react with every bit of sinew within themselves if that line is crossed?

What is your feeling on this, what would your reaction be? If the First Amendment was repealed in the next 5 years would that bother you? Or is that not important enough?

Remember though, this is your life. It is giving up everything you have, love, want. It is final. Is there anything THAT important?

Talk to me people, I want to know where you stand.

You ask about a willingness to die for a 'concept, belief, or thought'???

I pray I would react as the girl did in Colorado....

With a gun in her face, she did not deny God.

OK, sheeeesh, the gallon of ice cream, Love, and dirty, dirty sex, the kind that requires some sort of solvent to get the residue off.
There, I didn't want to look so single faceted. Because I am not, you know.

love?

if I had to push 'the woman I love' out of the way from an oncoming juggernaut.....and get smacked to high heaven myself,I'd probably do it.

Yet again i may freeze up and i could go with the philosophy that theres plenty more "fish in the sea".

damn it, this is a hard question to answer, CAL.

freedom?

if as caff stated "my freedom to think for myself" was taken away...I'd fight damn hard to gain that freedom back. If I died doing so, so be it.

Currently? I can't think of anything I would willingly lay down my life for. At least, not with any forethought.

Perhaps if I manage to find something worth such a thing (love, perhaps?), I might change my mind. But as it is, there isn't anything. Sorry.

I feel like a bad person, now.

Since you asked, I'd like to be known as one who would die to protect and preserve my loves, my honor and my country. Truth be known, however, I truly don't think anyone rightly knows the extent of that answer until if and when that time of reckoning should come. Amen.

My generation has never had to die for anything.

I have lamented this often.

It may seem like hollow, hollywood enspired bravado but it's true. We are the electric people, the charmed generation.

I had this conversation with my veteran grandfather before his death. We had both just read Brokaw's "The Greatest Generation". I told him I envied his chance to go. To try. To die or live or win or lose. In a trial so great, so absolute that only memory can contain it's size.

In those fields of honor he met his wife, lost his friend, helped destroy what the world saw as a great evil, and found the man he would be.

What has my generation done? What iron have these hands wrougt?

What have we learned from game shows and oil wars and Toys 'R Us?

I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm wishing for war....

I'm not. I would be happier fighting for peace in Haight-Ashbury; riding the crest of that "high and beautiful wave".

I'm just looking for something...anything that we as men can define ourselves by. That we can fight for...

That we can die for.

selah.
