Can someone please tell me

Why when I mention anything that might involve the USA as a country I am America bashing, and am told as much. Yet when anyone says something against Briatin, or Europe I take it standing up and don't fucking whine about European bashing?

most of your posts are negative commentary on our country. tis true. i don't think i've ever seen you say something positive about the united states. i understand that you're only expressing your opinion, but when your opinion is always that america and its citizens suck, how do you expect people to react?

the question is: if you do not live in the country you are criticising - does this mean you have no true rights to criticise its politics?

I've seen it happen in here where, someone will slag off their country and no one bats an eyelid - but when someone who is of a different nationality slags off that same country...everyone has a fit.

UJ has a point there. Not to mention the fact that I haven't seen whole lot of British bashing. Yes I know we mock you all, calling you limeys and what not, but I haven't seen a constant stream of negative crap the british government. So really spooky, what everyone is tired of, is that fact that you feel the need to ridicule the american government constantly, and you aren't even an american, though I am sure we could come annex your little island.

So let me get this straight Mord, because I don't live in America I should not have an opinon on actions taken by the Bush Administration that have international consequences?

This goes against everything I stand for, a graduate of politcs and a continuing student of governments actions around the world.

Certainly everybody's welcome to comment on American government and its activities. I assume that US news gets broadcast in other countries because it matters to them how we are governed and what our government does. Similarly, I assume that foreign news does not get broadcast in the US (unless there's a war) because their governments' activities do not matter to us.

Well Splat, we do get CNN, but its CNN Europe. And I believe the BBC News is broadcast in the US, at least the WOrld Service is anyway.

Hmmmm why you getting so rattled Mord? I could'nt care less about being called an American basher. I am not an american basher at all, its just that I disagree with alot of people and they choose to see it as country bashing as opposed to idea bashing which it actually is.

I note Feral, who is amercian rarely calls me a american basher. May I also add that I have rarely used the word 'yank' in here because I personally think its offensive. Starnge that no one has noticed that one in all the 'limey' insults that get hurled at me.

well i don't get BBC broadcasts here

and most of the shit we hear about on CNN are about floods or mudslides in assorted parts of the world

but we are inundated with backlash of the americans being held by chinese *shudder*

I like blaming the media, in fact I blame the them for the economic slowdown in america. Negative news reports about it created a feedback loop, "The economy is dying!" so people believe it and start behaving as though it is, which makes it worse, which generates for negative reports so on and so on, ad infinitum.
