Sign My Petition!
Okay, here's the deal...
There is this chemical called Hydrogen Oxide. It get's into the tap system, and contains all sorts of bad chemicals in it, like lead, chlorine, etc, all of which are bad for the human body.
The problem is that water refining plants refuse to stop using Hydrogen Oxide in their water systems. Something MUST be done!
Every year, many tons of Hydrogen Oxide, along with the lead, chlorine, and raw sewerage, are dumped into the ocean.
I need a list of names of people who would be interested in helping me fight this cause.

*cough* lame *cough*
Fuck, my high school chemistry class tried to pull that one over on us, and I figured that out even then.

Nope, it's hydrogen oxide, actually.
Learn your binomial nomenclature again.
(I screwed up, and said dioxide, so we were both wrong)

Bleh. I don't feel like arguing, plus I misplaced my chem book.
But even if you are right about the hydrogen, wouldn't it still be hydrogen monoxide?

Actually, to be truthful with you, Im not entirely sure.
I remember that you don't say the Di before Hydrogen, because it's something about it being 2 gases, or something like that.
Bah! I just remember the binomial nomenclature of water being hydrogen oxide.
Dont argue! I lack the intelligence, and the physical strength required for a rigorous keyboard mind duel.

Haha. Okay, I'll stop arguing. It's been a while for me, anyway. I'm probably completely wrong. My memory sucks.

Wouldn't Hydrogen Oxide be the same as Hydrogen Peroxide? Bihydrogen oxide sounds more like two hydrogen atoms per oxide atom.
Did anyone else ever notice how the shadow of this molecule looks a little like Mickey Mouse?

No, definitely not bihydrogen. Bi isn't used like that.
And yeah, the micky mouse thing is pretty obvious.

No Leroy, you are thinking of Hydroxide, which would be OH, or 1 Oxygen atom to 1 Hydrogen atom.
Hydrogen Oxide is the name for H2O. That is current debate

Actually water can be:
Dihydrogen Oxide
Hygrogen Hydroxide
Hydrogen Hydrate
Hydroxic Acid
etc...
water is not Hydrogen Oxide however, if your chem teacher told you this, then they are lyig (like so much of chemistry)
Hydrogen Oxide can be water or hydrogen peroxide, it is not exact enough.

EEEEDEOTS!
It's H2o. Dihydrogen monoxide. Two hydrogen atoms bonded with one oxygen, creating what we call water.
Di (two) Hydrogen Mon (one) Oxide. Sheesh. Even Agoust knows more than that.

Even though I get the impression this is an intellectual debate, I feel dumber for having read it.
