so here's the official update from the muth of the man directly...
I would like to start by saying thank you to the people who put me up in their homes as I traveled. so to eric, jon, alisa, tom, lena, adam, t.j., sara, jim, cathy, karen, and brad (and RiZZ too).. thanks a bunch for letting me sleep on your couches/floors/cots and for showing me around while I was there. it was great to meet all of you. and to the people I missed for one reason or another, I'll be back. I have adresses and phone numbers. you are not safe
ok .. so lets start!
I left San Francisco late early last friday in a rain storm, but that wasn't about to slow me down. I made my way south to Los Angeles in the midst of a typhoon. eventually I rolled into CAL's driveway where I was welcomed with a warm dinner and comfy cot to sleep on. The nxt day I found myself out and about with CAL in the great out of doors looking at country side I didn't even know existed in the LA area. we even saw two bunnies (well .. two if you count the one on the side of the road that wasn't moving all that much) the day was good and so was the company, and although the hunting brought no dinner to the table some great pictures where taken and dinner was still tastey.
the next day found me riding like hell across arizona to see Rosh. I was quickly reminded over dinner why exactly it is that I want to go back to school. anyone who's been to a large campus full of young firm women will know what I mean. how Rosh manages to get any studying done is beyond me. but he does and we all need to keep our eye's on the papers and CNN for Rosh when he wins the nobel award. anyone who can keep a clear head in that environment is bound for good things I think.
day three (well, day four, but it was day three of riding) was spent speeding across the high desert in new mexico towards roswell. I camped out in a super 8 once I got there and didn't have a change to hunt aliens due to the fact that I was passed out within minutes of opening my hotel room door. the desk clerk was friendly though. really friendly. the sort of friendly that if I had wanted a massage for my tired muscles I bet he would have been happy to oblige. I settled for the discounted rom rate though and left it at that.
I got up early the next day and shot to fort worth texas to meet up with Emerald, IBeFree, and thier posse. I spent an extra day there just kicking back and tuning up my bike with IBeFree. Strangly it was hard for me to leave thier home when the time came. I had a great time and enjoyed giving the guys rides up and down the street on my bike .. which reminds me .. even though T.J though we where doing at least a hundred, we never broke 35. hehe
when I did finally leave texas I sped to memphis tennesee and found myself yet another super 8 to crash in. I managed to get another room discount too, only this time the dsek clerk was a little old lady. I thought about asking for a massage, but decided not to push my luck.
then I was off again, riding like a madman up to Ohio to drop in on PMG. her couch was very comfortable and the following day was spent roaming around the great city of columbus visiting zoos and eating odd chili. I'm currently saving my money for one of PMG's paintings (the one by the door that everyone likes) which I hope to pick up the next time I'm in ohio.
the final day on the road brough me to Newport News where I was welcomed by open arms, a can of beer, and two guys holding sticks. it's good to be here, and as soon as the welts go down and the hangover lets up I think we'll go out and do some stuff.
so that's the short of it. I could go into how pretty the high desert in new mexico was or how I almost got arrested while showing off on my bike for that kid in that truck in ohio, but most of that stuff doesn't translate very well to text, so it'll have to do when I say that it was a great trip. I saw lots and mets many people. I'm almost sad it's over. my ass is glad though I think, or at least what's lft of it.
so there you have it. my trip in 10,000 words or less. I have to go call my parents now and tell them I made it here in one piece.
