Post If this is true its a fucking ridiculous

Roumor has it that my favourite inept President is about to take the USA out of the protocol on biological weapons. WTF? Is this man intent on taking your country back to the Pre-Monroe days of isolationism?

First its the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty, then its Kyoto, now it looks like the proliferation treaty on biological weapons that has been 6 years in the making in Geneva, and carries virtually global backing from the rest of the world is going to be destroyed by a thick cunt (sorry for my language but he is thick and he is a cunt)

I guess next on the list will be the Proliferation of Chemical Weapoins Treaty that is due for closure and ratification later this year.

What bemuses me is how a country (or should I say President) is so intent on unravelling international agreements because of commercial lobbying. This decision that will be announced officially very soon (although it has been announced to most Foreign Ministries privately around the world) smacks of commercial lobbying pressure.

How can a President be so openly against the development of biological weapons in the 'rogue states' and then proceed to destroy a protocol designed to stop it. A do as we say not we do approach to Foreign policy is the most dangerous and irresponsible attitude any statesman (if you can even call him that) can make. This 'we don;t care what you think' attitude is the one sure fire way of marginalising your allies and pissing off your enemies. This Bush administration will be remembered as being the most inept at diplomacy in recorded history.

The consequences of ditching the biological weapons protocol is that Russia, China and Japan may follow suit in reaction. I sincerely hope this does not happen. I hope they are convinced to remain inside the treaty thusly isolating Bush entirely from all his allies and enemies even more.

Yes this has pissed me off. The actions of this intellectually challenged accidental President are beyond my comprehension. He bows to commercial pressure to easily and has no principles or understanding of world affairs whatsoever.

I would not go as far as to wish him dead, although my other half made a statemnet of her desire for his assasination. Would it really be a bad thing? (Hi to all the NSA/CIA people reading this btw, yes I said assasination)

Thank you Mr Bush for returning the world to instabilty, arms races and cold war doctrines. You fucking wanker.

actualyl I was'nt. I was laughing about it because I thought it was funny. This is issue is not related to the UN directly. You are referring to the Human Rights Committee on the UN. This is about Geneva, and strengthening the Geneva convention.

No, though I guess that is a possibility.

A few months ago Spooky posted some threads about how the US was getting excluded from global human rights organizations. I believe that the US Senate was seriously considering defaulting on their UN debts because of this but I haven't heard any follow up on that.

In any case, Spooky found it quite funny that the US was getting excluded from global alliances.

Hence my comment.

I found it funny because it was done through a democratic voting system. I also found it funny because the US record on Human Rights as far as Amnesty International (of which I am a member) is concerned are less than perfect, as too is the UK's record. N.B. The UK is not on that Comittee either and was voted off in 1995.

This issue has nothing to do with human right abuses or assessing them. It has to do with increasing instability and cold war intentions. It has to do with a President that bows to commercial pressure to easily.

I really don;t undersatnd what your comparison with the two posts are Paint. Please explain.

that's why i fail to see the justification behind the US' anger regarding this stuff. and the threat of not paying debts is just plain petty.

but that's digression.

It was 95% a joke Spooky.

The other 5% was that when you are happy about the US being isolated by the global community in one area, you should not cry foul when it is isolated in another.

But consider the 95%.

Ok I see you point. But on the matter of Human Rights my amusement was that isolation on particular human rights committes etc etc was funny cause of the voting system

However, you point is a little flawed. Yes I think its right to isolate amercia in terms of dialogue capaibilites on issues that are global in repsonse to Kyto etc. No I do not think its right for America to isolate itself purposefully on an issue such as the proliferation of biological weapons. I am anti proliferation on all counts, and I think its utterly hypocritical for Bush to do this in this circumstance given the attitude of the US to 'rogue nations' who might I add are also willing to sign up to the non-proliferation treaty.
