India making nuclear-capable missile
NEW DELHI, India, June 1 (UPI) -- India has approved plans for developing a long-range nuclear-capable ballistic missile called Agni, or Fire, which can deliver nuclear warhead into neighboring China and Pakistan, newspaper reports said Friday.

India's Defense Minister Jaswant Singh said the new missile could be introduced into the Indian arsenal by March 2002.

"Agni II is an operational missile system designed and developed using various technologies," Singh told a parliamentary panel on defense issues.

Limited production of the surface-to-surface Agni missile has already begun.

The Times of India newspaper said India was also on the verge of developing the beyond visual range, air-to-air missile called Astra for its the light combat aircraft.

The Agni-II has a range of 1,550 miles and is capable of carrying one-tone nuclear warhead and can be fired from a mobile launcher.

With Agni-II in its arsenal, India will join the ranks of other countries equipped with ballistic missiles such as the United States and Russia.

Singh said India's integrated guided missile program was on a steady path with the country now producing four missile systems - short-range surface-to-surface missile Prithvi, surface-to-air Trishul, medium-range surface-to-air Akash and the third generation anti-tank Nag missile.

I dont like this one bit.

The more countries that have nucular(c) capabilities, the more likely that some rogue organization or country will be able to yoink a missle or missles and use them.

I can see it now.

"A shipment of new Agni-II nuclear missles was compromised by Usama Bin Laden's terrorist group. His organization has released a statement detailing plans to launch all the missles against the capitals of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, China, and Japan."

Nuclear weapons don't scare me. It is the psychopath terrorist often found in the Middle East (note: this does not exclude any other terrorists found elsewhere; I merely use the Middle East as an example because that is where the majority of press-cited examples originate from) who don't care about anything else in the world other than making a point... to them, the ends justify the means, even if that means murdering millions and millions of innocent people.

Nucular(c) weapons. Unfair to some.

What do you mean "crazy shit over there?" Just because India (second most populous country, soon to be first) wants to join the Nuke Club you throw down some geographic-ism suggesting that there is some problem with the 3rd world?

There are fucking fanatics everywhere, not just "over there." Go google abortion bombings or Balkan crimes and you can get a glimpse of American and European fanaticism too!

Gotcha. I was thinking you were referring to the thread title post for some reason. As for the Middle East fanaticism, it is just a simple case of people fervently attaching their beliefs to a patch of dirt and then having someone else come take it from them. Since their identity, indeed, their very existence is defined by this dirt, they will stop at nothing to get it back. That place will be fucked up forever, I do believe.
