Interesting that no one has mentioned it...but?
If you did'nt know already Slobodon Milosovic has been extradicted and is currently awaiting trial for war crimes at the Hague. He is the first living head of state to be tried for war crimes, and there is concern about how the trial can be held in a fair way given the media surrounding his premiership of Serbia and the Former Yugoslavia, what with nicknames like the Butcher of Belgrade etc.
Now I have a question. Is this story being covered as headline stuff in the US? I know it is here at least and across Europe. But is taking the top spot in the news over there?

Well I've been a little detached from the news lately, but I haven't seen anything. Usually if it's something big, the media will push it until even poor little isolated beings like myself hear about it.

yes. BUt he is still alive. The Hague has never tried a living head or ex head of state. Thats what I meant. Duly noted point taken, bad wording on my part.

I assumed that he was alive
I liked how confident he was that he wasn't going to trial
I personally think he should be given an immunity to all charges. That's just my radical opinion though

I've seen it on the news a few times. The report I've seen hasn't changed since he was brought to the prison where he will wait for his trial.
In short:
-He was very bad.
-He could not be extradited.
-Other countries said that they would cut their foreign aid.
-He went to some prison that has less than 40 prisoners.
-One of his attorneys said he was kidnapped.

I guess it depends on the news. I rarely watch broadcast news so I wouldn't know about that but it has been covered extensively on NPR (National Public Radio) which I listen to everyday. I find them to be the best source for unbiased, unsensationalized news around. Plus they do a great job of going to great lengths to give a complete view of the story.

apart from the t=fact that clinton didnt partake in ethic cleansing, if they did put him on trial they would have to put Tony Blair on trial as well because i believe he was in on the bombings as well.....

There's no such thing as unbiased media, my friend. No such thing at all. Although some stations cut it pretty close. The problem is that all media have to worry about pressure not just from established power, but from the attitudes of their audience. It's much more profitable to conform to existing biases of the government and of the target audience than it is to give unbiased, informative news.

I get the feeling that NPR is like the American BBC. Or maybe that's PBS.
I was watching TV yesterday and it was covered by all the networks. Top story in some cases, though there wasn't a whole lot to report save "he is now in custody finally". Reports of his ethnic cleansing, the mass graves and whatnot, and that they are investigating something or other which could tie him to something or other. And the video of him being taken to jail in handcuffs.

cnbc does a really great job, even though their mother company is GE.
they make sure to let you know that anytime the topic of GE comes up, and the people who they have there, not the channel itself, are very objective.
it's the most objective, highly funded by a major player company I know of.

I can't believe you're calling it ethnic cleansing too. You mean genocide? How about mass murder? Ethnic cleansing. Whose language is that, anyways.

Gee thanks for the enlightenment, no really, I had no idea.
I said "the best source" which was, of course, IMHO. That did not qualify as an absolute statement.
I realize that no one is perfect but NPR (as a PBS network affiliate) does not take advertising and is thusly not biased by the corporate world the way a lot of news programs can be.

It's the language of a government that prefers to keep us passive and uninformed. Anybody ever hear solid numbers of casualties inflicted by the Serbs and by the Americans? I'd be interested in finding out what the official propaganda is.

It's called PCese. Sucks doesn't it?
Ethnic cleansing sounds like it is a good thing.
It's like "domestic violence". I say we stick to the old, "wife beating". Let's call dirt, dirt.

Sorry; you do have a valid point. I'd like to see more stations like that - there are already too many who are bowing to advertising.

Ok First lets explain the meaning of terms. Milosovic is not up for genocide. Why? Because genocide is the extermination of an entire national, political, or ethnic grouping. Milosevic did not commit genoicde. He forced hundreds of ethnic albanians and kosovons out of their homes and out of the country. But he did not kill all of them. Which is why, if you remeber, that US fighter manage3d to kill a lot of them in a convoy when they were leaving the country.
So that, is what ethnic cleansing is. It has nothing to do with fucking PC. I resent the way a new term is automatically seen as politically correct and disputed by people.
I don't like Milosevic, but I am sorry, he did not commit genocide. Mass Murderer? A justifiable term I guess. Althoug not all the Kosovan Albanians were murdered, but there was an attempt to 'cleanse the country of their ethnicity'

I dispute that entirely. The BBC does give a shit who they upset. They tell the facts and then have people from all sides analysing it. Each person may have personal bias but the shows themselves are alwasy balanced.

I don't think it sounds like a good thing at all. Perhaps worse even, than terms used to describe such an act in the past.
Wife beating does not serve in all cases of domestic violence because the victem and the 'beater' are not always wife and husband, and it's not always the wife getting beat. More "grammatically correct" if anything.
