we proved today we can could compete with one of the very best teams in the world, and beat them.

argentina are not used to losing. This was only their third defeat since the 1999 Copa America ( brazil beating them on the other 2 occassions).

for all their possession, argentina couldnt beat us. and if we can beat argentina we can beat anyone.

i'm not getting carried away. theres still an awful amount to do and we can still improve our game.

but fuck all that. lets just enjoy the moment.

revenge.

maradona has probably overdosed on coke. batistuta is balling his eyes out and all those arrogant comments they made have been rammed down their pathetic throats.

i'm so fucking proud.

you have to love fate. what happened in france 4 years back was the making of beckham. lets all thank Diego Simeone.

we are england.

i'd also like to add that argentina deserved to lose due to their haircuts.

everytime i saw Amiar on the ball i thought it was Leo Sayer making a comeback.

Reckon Sinclair earned himself a place in the starting line-up?

Posted by urbanjunkie on 06-07-2002 08:49 PM:

probably. i dont think Dyer will be risked for a full 90 minutes. Sinclair is also a better 'winger' than Hargreaves. depends really on what tactics Sven goes for.

he was well up for it though.

i was happy to see Owen RUN at argentina. they just couldnt handle him. more of same please.

but yeah, sinclair did well. very well. also impressed with butt, and Hargreaves going off proved to be a blessing with Scholes playing well down the middle.

its good that Sven has choices now.

also: shame teddy didnt score that volley. the move leading up to it was superb.

I said earlier that England had to take a good long look at themselves, that Sweden fiasco was a good sharpener.

Heskey was impressive for the lumbering old fellow he is, Mills made up for the last match, Beckham was keen as mustard, he fucked up a few passes, but they stood out, because England weren't making any mistakes.

Only problem now is to get a draw against Nigeria, whose teams member will be facing a firing squad back home if they don't win a match.

Posted by urbanjunkie on 06-07-2002 09:55 PM:

exactly (on what you said about nigeria).

no way should we take it for granted that we have qualified. nigeria will play for pride and it will be a diffcult game.

Posh boy is sexy and Steven Segal did a good job blocking the goals.

i sometimes wish David Beckham would suffer a horrendous car crash where his face would be disfigured, and then he would no longer be the wet dream of the thousands of female fans.
