Crap.

The first European lunar mission is set to begin Saturday when the SMART-1 robotic probe heads to space aboard an Arianespace Ariane 5 rocket from the Guiana Space Center.
SMART-1 also represents the first lunar mission of any kind in four years. It will orbit the Moon for six months, mapping the lunar surface across 266 wavelengths of light in detail that would reveal a small chocolate box.
This gives us a very small window to blow up the moon.

Even in space Europeans are more environmentally friendly than Americans. The craft will be powered by solar power. That’s so cool. It uses this ion drive thingy.

Oh yeah, like we need unburnt ions spewing all over the fucking solar system. Europe doesn't give a fuckall about the environment. They should have named the craft the Valdez II.

I look at it as being like Smug deriding anyone for caring about Sept. 11 by making 18 smartass posts about it on the anniversary. (Okay, you don't care. Another fifty posts or so should prove that to everyone, don't ya think?)
After a while you realize that it's just a failure on their part to come up with something more interesting, so they just flog the "we're better than America blah blah blah" horse long after they've beaten the last morsel of horseshit out of it.
In fact, this post is a good example of the same idiocy at work, as if my bitching will make them any more interesting. Yeah, we're Americans and we're horrible. There's only a couple million of us, let's see if we can find a broader generalization, like how our end of the solar system is so much better than that end. God, I'm so clever.

That Ariane 5 its sitting on top of wont spew any crap into the atmosphere when it takes off, either.

I disagree.
Europeans, well western Europeans, pressure their governments to implement environmentally friendly laws.
Cause there ain't too much environment left I guess.
Car emmission laws for example, if a petrol car emits too much CO, it's hasta la vista baby.
That's why I drive "classic" cars as it goes, smoke as much as ya want.

Cool mission, though. DM is right, however, the moon must be destroyed before it gets there. National security.

Exactly, it would be terrible timing for the Euros to prove that the moon landing was a staged event in the Nevada desert, performed solely to take the American publics attention away from the Vietnam war.

If my aim was to make the point that I didn't care, a post to that effect would have sufficed. I thought that it was funny. Agreeing with me isn't compulsory, however, not on this occasion.

Don't tell us, tell the INS so they can turn pj back at the border when he comes to immigrate. Unless you are referring to all of us non-Americans, in which case there would appear that there might be horseshit left over.
Normally, it's a joke when people say that stuff.

I hope they don't map the dark side of the moon. The one with all the forgotten temples to unnamed gods, and unspeakable ceremonies to satisfy the titanic mindless gibberings of elder monstrosities. Ia! Ia, Shub-Niggurath! Phn'glui mwalfgg nyggh hraaa! Yog-Sothoth! Ia!

Just a throwaway post on my part. Chalk up another couple of knee-slappers on yours. Like I said, maybe another fifty posts will prove how much you don't care.
It's not that you think it's funny, it's that you don't think anyone else should be allowed to NOT think it's funny. But if 3,000 people get turned into meat-powder in London tomorrow, I won't think it's funny, either.
Call it a fault on my part.

In case anyone else was under the impression that I didn't think that it was allowed to not find me funny in general, and on this matter in particular, really, you can all not find me funny. It's OK. I really don't care if you don't find me funny. Do I need to make 50 posts to make it obvious that I don't care? If I do,you can save me the typing by just reading this post 50 times. Until you're convinced, that is.
EDIT 'find', not 'fine'

Shub-Niggurath is not an acceptable designation. Please refer to the aforementioned entity as an "Eldritch monstrosity of color."
Also, there are four a's in hraaaa, dumbass.

don't worry PT. Smug doesnt represent all of us. I dont think its funny either. i am still shocked by it. I have been to ground zero to pay my respects. i have heard some truly horrible stories regarding it. but its also part of the reason i would want to live in NYC. I think there is a spirit there, and i like it. theres no spirit here, no sense of unity whatsoever. the only thing we get remotely passionate about is soccer, and the Queen giving free concerts.
