Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes
Better than expected.
I just waited for someone to say, 'Do you know I'm involved with... black magic?' 7/10
I didn't care for DKR; it was perplexingly bereft of any of the visual style of the first movie; Bane was ridiculous, the plot was a parade of disconnected macguffins that brutally dared suspension of disbelief. Fortunately[spoiler] . It was surprisingly bad, I thought. It made me sad that the 12/58 people killed/harmed at the premier had to have their lives marred by the momentousness of such an insignificant and empty spectacle. Seriously - they didn't render Gotham *at all*. WTF. It was south manhattan from beginning to end; they didn't even try to hide it. It was kind of offensive, somehow.
Batman sucks.
I will watch 'In Time'; I was avoiding it but two thumbses up from such distinct and self-possessed consciousnesses is an unexpected spur. HBO ahoj for social justice
I think it was Pittsburgh mostly and L.A., but I agree it lacked the feel of a Batman Noir type that we are used too. For a trivial fact it's the first time we've ever seen Batman appear during the day. Most of this film takes place during day shots.
Just watched a PBS documentary: Horatio's Drive: America's First Road Trip
It is the story of an automobile drive from San Francisco to New York City in 1903 - taking 63 days and 12.5 hours to complete. That was the very first trans-continental drive ever completed. The best part was that it was totally a spur of the moment deal - the result of a $50 bet that Dr. Horatio Nelson Jackson made. When he made the bet, he didn't even own a car. Four days later he and his traveling companion left San Francisco.
Good movie.
George Wyman completed the trip on a motorcycle twenty days before Horatio Nelson Jackson arrived in a car.

Yes, I know. A guy I know from another forum repeated the trip on a motorized bicycle, starting on the 100th anniversary of the original. As closely as possible he followed Wyman's original route, on a bicycle he installed a 49 cc 2 stroke engine on (basically, the same engine I had on that bike at the apt.). His story of the ride is fascinating.
I've read that guys log about the trip. It's a great story. He did cheat a bit however by having a chase vehicle follow him.
I'd like to something similar myself one day on a moped.
Sounds like fun, really. An old guy I am acquainted with lost his wife three years ago. He sold the house, built a tadpole trike with a GEBE drive to the rear wheel, a two wheel cargo trailer, and hit the road. Started in a little town at the NE corner of Maine, and went down the East coast on secondary roads. Wintered in the FL keys the first year, then headed out again, up to northern Wisconsin and back down to Corpus Christi for the second winter. Always on back roads, and his aim is never to stay the night in any town over 5,000 in population. He's in norther Montana right now, and plans to winter near San Diego at a mutual acquaintances home. Next year he plans to ride the West coast to Seattle, then take the ferry to Alaska.
Last I heard from him, he has taken over 6,000 pictures, and written about 500 pages of narrative about the adventure - all sent to his son in Massachuisetts. His intent is to eventually edit it together into a multi-volume illustrated narrative, to be published on the web after his death.
I hope he finishes the project one day.
I'd always thought about buying a Motorbike and trying to stay one night at every members house on the forum. It would make for one hell of a documentary. This was a thought after reading "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" I would call it "Zen, Motorcycle Maintenance and the Changing World: A VidBlog of Some Asshole"
I've daydreamed about something similar, except I'd not focus on visiting members. I'd like to do "America's Scenic Drives: By Tricycle".
well my thought would be to try an fund the whole trip with Kickstarter and Youtube. Vidbloging with hopefully free stays in most countries
Tonight's movie: The Hunger Games
It wasn't bad, but not having read the books, I think it was ultimately overhyped and overrated. Maybe the books are better, or it would be better had I read the books, but from my perspective, I am unimpressed.
Oh, and I liked Battle Royale better.

Trollhunter. Fun. Makes me want to go to Norway.

We'll go visit TT's ancestors.
Tonight's movie: The Meteor Man
Silly, but fun. Could be better, but worth watching for a decent laugh.

Another Happy Day.

It was much better than the reviews.
"Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf" (1966)
Had everything I missed in God of Carnage, the softened fag version adopted for our disgustingly stupid times.
The Avengers: Very Firefly (why did they ever cancel that show?)
Prometheus: It didn't feel like an Alien movie. On its own, I thought it was very good and look forward to the obvious splinter sequel.

Unstoppable.
A massive train runs off because Ethan Suplee is a moron, but working class America saves the day. Take that, capitalists.
Exciting stuff. *rumblerumblerumble* 6.5/10
I'll watch promtheus thus weekend. I'm going to find it awesome, just tellin'.
Headhunters. Thanks mouse.
At least Americans aren't the only people fascinated by sociopaths.
