Art you have purchased.

Anybody here own any real art? I know some people purchased some of PMG's work and Wonderaz has an alleged job creating artworks. Surely some people have some fine arts laying around.

I have a few pieces of lustre pottery that were purchased from and given by a friend of mine. I will take a picture of those sometime.

Also I recently bought a self portrait of another friend of mine. It's taller than she is in real life. I have never owned an oil painting before and didn't realize how much more I would like it than a store bought piece of wall decoration. Plus it smells like oil.

this is the piece hanging over my couch in the living room. it was made by a young man that works for my company. i drove to maryland to see his exhibit, and bought it there. he's very talented, i hope he makes it someday.

this is nualla. i named her after a character in a book. i don't know what it's really called. aleks bought it in virginia from some guy while he was on a business trip. he makes art pieces out of old metal barrels. you can't really see it in the picture, but the plug from the top of the barrel is her earring.

this is a gieger print called the trumpets of jericho. i don't know if this qualifies, as it's only a print. however, i don't suppose i'll ever have enough money to actually buy one of his original works. we got it matted and framed last summer for about the same cost as a tivo. i never realized how expensive the process can be.

Matting is only expensive if you have someone else do it. It's actually not that hard, just requires some odd pieces of equipment and a little time.

yeah, i learned how to do it in high school. it was the framing that was expensive. custom built frames n' stuff is definitely a career i should look into.

Customing framing is definitely way too expensive. My mom has had a few things custom framed, I caught a glimpse of the price and couldn't believe it.

the work and frustration justifies the cost, i assure you. making a frame line up is something i get nightmares about.

frames make such a huge difference; its definitely worth the price, if you can afford it.

Actually, I think Aleks bought the Nualla thingie here in Myrtle Beach when he was visiting for some company thing. Or maybe he bought something very similar.

The only paintings I've got are one by my grandmother (which I love) and some sunset that I have no idea who it's by or where we got it.

Well, that and the clocks carved by my grandfather.
