the fine art of flaming

you know...I'm not sure I've begun a thread in here thus far. what an odd feeling.

anyway, I just read your guide cap'n spank. I was just going to skim it, but then I saw my name. being incredibly vain, I read the entire thing, in order to see if my name was in there additional times. it was!
heh but anyway that's not why I'm posting. I just wanted to add that another benefit to the extremely long intricate response is that you can hide little points in there, points you know your opponant might take issue with, or even agree with. usually in a flaming frenzy your entire post will not be read, but rather skimmed. hiding these valid points in there gives you lisence to say: "perhaps you didn't fully read my last post, but I already addressed that issue. if you're not going to pay attention, what's the use in argueing at all?"
the high road, plus a hint of being right. in my limited flaming capacities I found it most useful.


reading that list was like a trip back in time to the spf days...when I was the only kid on the block with 2000 posts under my belt, and where I would spend 8 hours at a time conversing with intelligent folks about ideas...or simply try to get down some attractive net woman's internet pants.

well you may think what you will, but this post was not designed for you. you didn't have to read or comment on it, and it would simply have gone away all the quicker. we should be allowed to reminisce, it's our past and we're entitled to it's remembrance.
